Sven Torsten Moberg was a Swedish civil servant and politician for the Social Democrats.
Career
Moberg was a member of the party since the late 1930s. He worked in the Ministry of Education since 1958.
He was consultative minister of state (Minister of Education) 1967–1973, member of the Riksdag 1971–1973, director general of the State Treasury 1973–1983. He was mainly involved in matters relating to higher education.[1]
Olof Palme became Minister of Education in 1967. The area was seen as important at the time, when the sector experienced a massive expansion. Palme, as crown prince of the party, was often occupied elsewhere as a close advisor of PM Tage Erlander, so he got Moberg, a "not very charismatic" civil servant, as assistant minister.[2]
In 1973 he became Director-General of Statskontoret, a Swedish state administrative authority, which falls under the Ministry of Finance and is tasked with assisting with evaluations and follow-ups of state and state-funded activities on behalf of the government.[3]
