The Milner Group, also known as the Roundtable Group,[1] was a key deep state faction at the turn of the 20th century, effectively constituting the UK deep state for decades[When?][citation needed]. It has been most clearly exposed by Carroll Quigley, who claims that although of great importance and influence, it was particularly difficult to track due to its tight control of the UK historical record.
World War I
The group played a major role in World War I. In 1916, it organised a coup to oust UK PM Herbert Asquith.[1]

By 1939, the group's influence had significantly declined.[Why?] However, in the last chapter of The Anglo-American Establishment, entitled The Milner Group in World War II, Quigley wrote that the Milner Group "played a considerable role in the Second World War, not scattered throughout the various agencies associated with the great struggle, but concentrated in four or five chief fiefs."[2]
