Activities
In 2022 the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs (BMFSFJ) and the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) used six-figure sums to finance a LibMod project with the title "Opponent Analysis". According to the foundation, the aim of the project was to monitor and analyze "system-oppositional" media.[1] Critical media such as the NachDenkSeiten (NDS) were described there as "system-oppositional countermedia", which are "self-declared opponents of liberal democracy" and "opponents of open society", which must be kept an eye on in the form of monthly "monitoring".[2][3]
The fact that the project managers have selected NachDenkSeiten (NDS) as the "main opponents" is made clear by the fact that after a period of more than 11 months until June 2022, the "Opponent Analysis" project only published a single case study. It dealt exclusively with the NDS and spread claims like these:
As this investigation shows, the NDS are a highly ideologized, undifferentiated argumentative medium that postulates radical resistance and acts as a hinge for conspiracy theoretical thinking. In the case of individual topics, it deliberately places itself in a fundamentally oppositional Querfront" [i.e. not following party politics lines].[4]
Funding
The Press and Information Office of the Federal Government, whose head is the respective government spokesman, finances LibMod with 500,000 euros annually. The funds are not earmarked for a specific purpose, but serve an unspecified "institutional funding". The think-tank is also sponsored with larges sums of money by the US oligarch George Soros, among others.[5][6]

Mercator Foundation | German foundation financing projects of deep state interest and buying control over the narrative, especially on "climate change" and pro-migration. Frequently connected to censorship initiatives. |
Open Society Foundations | A NGO operating in more countries than McDonald's. It has the tendency to support politicians (at times through astroturfing) and activists that get branded as "extreme left" as its founder is billionaire and bane of the pound George Soros. This polarizing perspective causes the abnormal influence of the OSF to go somewhat unanswered. |
