Counsel for the Dutch royal family

Arnold Croiset van Uchelen is a lawyer at the company Allen & Overy. He attended the Bilderberg for the first time in 2019.

Career

Van Uchelen was active during the collapse of the Internet and telecom bubble in the early 2000s. Among other things, he was a lawyer for the chairman of the board of World Online, an internet provider that was a symbol of the New Economy. He was also KPN's lawyer in the bankruptcy of KPNQWest in 2002.[1]

Since 2009, Croiset van Uchelen was counsel to the then Queen Beatrix. After the throne change, King Willem-Alexander kept him, and to this day he is his advisor. It is not busy, because the royal family has few legal problems to deal with. "You need a kind of legal doctor." [1]

He thinks that in the future, a theme such as privacy could play a greater role in law. "If I were young now, I might go in the direction of data protection and privacy." He finds the power of Google, Facebook and Twitter fascinating. "Donald Trump should not tweet, but Chinese people involved in half a genocide against the Uighurs can. Why? Those are interesting issues."[1]

Still very committed to what is going on in the world, he says: "It is always interesting when there is a social development in business, because they also change over the years and with it your work."[1]
