The United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney is a "national resource that builds awareness of the dynamics shaping America, their implications for Australia — and critically — solutions for the Alliance."[1]

History

Then-Prime Minister John Howard announced in 2006 a $25 million endowment to establish a United States Studies Centre. In 2010 the centre announced the $2 million Dow Sustainability Program, funded by the US-based Dow Chemical Company Foundation (the maker of Agent Orange).

When Dr. Michael Green, "a close confidant and friend" of the senior spook Andrew Shearer, took over as CEO in 2018, the coverage of US-Australian relations on its website developed a level of unquestioning support very much in keeping with John Howard's self-proclaimed campaign to draw closer to Washington.[2]
