Ole Scherfig was a Danish business executive[1][2]. He attended the 1990 Bilderberg conference as a media executive for Berlingske Tidende.

Family

Ole Scherfig was the son of chool administrator Harald Jensen and wife Ingeborg. His uncle was the writer Hans Scherfig.[3]

He was married to Lise Scherfig, with whom he had the children Vibeke Wrede, Lone Scherfig and Christian Scherfig.[3]

Career

As a law student, he became active in Denmark's International Student Committee[4] (DIS), where in the post-war period he met the later business leaders Poul Svanholm and Olav Grue. Scherfig did not complete his studies, but instead became managing director of DIS 1960-72.[3]

Then Svanholm brought him to Carlsberg. Scherfig had just been appointed Group CEO of Carlsberg when he, together with Grue and Kristian Mogensen, set out to save the newspaper Berlingske Tidende, which was in deep crisis (1982). However, he suffered a blood clot and had to give up the director position. After a heart operation, he continued as chairman of the parent media corporation for Berlingske Tidende.[3]

Later he was also tasked as chairman of the board to steer the Mortgage Bank BRFkredit out of a crisis in the early 1990s and also held board positions in Novo Nordisk and the Great Belt Bridge corporation. He was a knight of the Dannebrog.[3]
