The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is a mostly Gates Foundation-funded research institute at the University of Washington. With $600 million in funding from Gates, it has managed to create almost a monopoly on creating global health statistics - often based on estimates rather than actual data - and thus helps create the wanted narrative for its sponsor.[1]
