Swiss banker who attended Le Cercle multiple times in the 1970s. From 1989 to 1997 he was a member of a committee appointed by the Vatican expert, who had to clean up the Vatican Bank Institute for the Works of Religion, after the collapse of the Banco Ambrosiano.

Philippe de Weck is a Swiss banker and lawyer.

Background

De Weck studied law at the University of Freiburg and graduated with a master's.

Career

He received the patent attorney and worked for three years as a lawyer in practice of Jean Bourgknecht. Then he joined the family's bank Weck, Aeby & Cie. on. When this bank in 1953 taken over by Union Bank of Switzerland, he was made head the Freiburg branch. In 1956 he headed the Geneva branch. He was later transferred to headquarters to Zurich, where he was in 1964 appointed Assistant Director.

He led several business units in the episode and was responsible for the branches and the credit business in French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino. From 1976 to 1980 he was Chairman of SBG, which he still belonged to the 1988th From 1989 to 1997 he was a member of a committee appointed by the Vatican, which had to clean up the Vatican Bank Institute for the Works of Religion, after the collapse of the Banco Ambrosiano.

De Weck took numerous directorships outside the financial sector, likeNestlé, Sulzer, Asuag and SGS.

Family

De Weck was married and had seven children, including the bank manager Pierre de Weck and publicist Roger de Weck.
