Gavin Christopher Newsom is an American politician and businessman serving as the governor of California since January 2019. He was chosen as a Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum in 2005.
Newsom's first political experience came when he volunteered for Willie Brown's successful campaign for mayor in 1995.
