The National Clandestine Service (NCS) is the clandestine arm of the Central Intelligence Agency and coordinates clandestine operations across the US Intelligence Community.[1]
Origins
The NCS was created on 13 October 2005. Its role was previously played by the Directorate of Plans from 1952 to 1973, and by the Directorate of Operations from 1973 to 2005.[2]
Structure
- Operation 40 is a former CIA hit squad which was probably long ago moved off the books into the preserve of deep state control
- The Counterterrorism Center, not to be confused with the National Counterterrorism Center (ODNI)), was established in 1986

The National Clandestine Service Director has been a relatively high profile post in the CIA, but recently the CIA has not been publicly confirming appointments.
