Not to be confused with the "CIA's Counterterrorism Center", the CTC

The "National Counterterrorism Center" (NCTC) is a United States government organisation responsible for national and international counterterrorism efforts. Started in 2004, the NCTC succeeded the "Terrorist Threat Integration Center" which was established in May 2003.

Part of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the NCTC brings together specialists from other federal agencies, including the CIA, the FBI, the US Department of Defense, and the Department of Homeland Security.

Director resigns

On 17 March 2026, Mohammad Marandi posted on X:

The Titanic is sinking.

Joe Kent, the Trump-appointed director of the National Counterterrorism Center, has resigned in protest over the ongoing war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which he states was launched under pressure from the Zionist regime and its lobby in the US:

"I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran," Kent said in his resignation statement. "Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby."[1]
