Exposed byKevin Annett
Interest ofThe International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State
DescriptionA very dark chapter of Canada's history which was chanced upon and the determinedly exposed by Rev. Kevin Annett. For well over a century, Native Canadians were abused, infected with smallpox or TB, forcibly sterilised and sometimes flat out murdered in a climate of impunity. The Canadian government issued a formal apology for the episode in 2008, though it also announced that while some compensation payments would be made, the genocide would go unpunished.

Canada treated First Nations people badly. Indigenous people face discrimination.

Official narrative

Wikipedia's estimate of "at least 4,000 children died" seems incredibly low considering the evidence presented by Annett, who suggests that 50,000-100,000 may be more realistic figure.

Exposure

More than anyone else, Rev. Kevin Annett has been instrumental in exposing the tens of thousands of native Canadians killed by the genocidal policies of the utterly racist white establishment.

Apology

Prompted largely by the publicity raised by Kevin Annett's film, 2007 Unrepentant, on June 11, 2008 a public apology was offered by Prime Minister Stephen Harper on behalf of the Government of Canada and by the leaders of all the other parties in the Canadian House of Commons.

Truth and Reconciliation Commission

Nine days prior, the Indian Residential Schools Truth and Reconciliation Commission was established, supposedly to uncover the truth about the schools. Annett suggests it is a damage limitation exercise.

Indian residential schools

The especially established Indian residential schools practised a policy of germ warfare, beatings, and intimidation and by that enabled an unofficial policy of extermination against native children that were taken against their will from their parents; it was a continuation of the Indian Wars across America from 17th century.

Kamloops Indian Residential School

In 2021 a ground-penetrating radar located the remains of 215 First Nations children in a unmarked mass grave on the grounds of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. It was operated by the catholic "Missionary of Oblates of Mary Immaculate".[1][2]

Marieval Indian Residential School

In 2021 remains of more than 700 dead children were found Marieval Indian Residential School in southeastern Saskatchewan. It was operated by the Roman Catholic Church from 1899 to 1997.[3][4]
