He was elected to the European elections of 1984 for the DC lists. He was a member of the Committee on Budgets, the delegation for relations with the Gulf States, the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and Industrial Policy, the delegation for relations with the Union of Socialist Republics Soviet Union, of the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia.
