Turkish businessman and of the founders of TÜSİAD. Attended Bilderberg 1975.

Selçuk Yaşar was a Turkish businessman. He was the founder and honorary chairman of Yaşar Holding, one of the most important business conglomerates in Turkey.[1] He attended the 1975 Bilderberg conference.

Background

He was born on January 17, 1925 in Rhodes, then under Italian rule.[2] His father was a paint merchant, and his family moved to Izmir in 1931. He completed his primary and secondary education at Saint Joseph's in Izmir and his high school education at Saint Joseph French High School in Istanbul.[3]

Career

Yaşar started his business life at his father's paint store, then he with his father and brother started manufacturing by founding Dyo, Turkey's first paint factory, in 1954.

Selçuk Yaşar observed that the Turkish milk industry was undeveloped[4]. For this reason, an investment decision was made and the foundation was laid in 1973 for the company Pınar Süt, which started operating as the largest milk production facility in the Middle East in 1975, producing long-lasting milk produced with UHT technology in Tetra Pak cans for the first time in Turkey.

He was one of the founders of the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TÜSIAD).

He was fluent in French and English.[5]

He died on February 11, 2023 in Izmir from old age-related causes.[6]
