Svein Aaser Svein Aaser is a former CEO of DnB NOR, the largest financial group in Norway. He resigned on 31 December 2006

Career

After graduating from IMEDE in 1970, he worked in the textile and paper industries, then over to CEO in the food wholesale and insurance sectors. During a period of ten years starting in 1987 he was president and CEO of the pharmaceutical company Hafslund Nycomed. In 1998 he was appointed CEO of Den norske Bank, later the merged to the bank DnB NOR, where he retired in 2006.

He has also been the chairman of the seafood company Marine Harvest, but stepped down in January 2010. He also chairs the government hydropower company Statkraft. From 2012 to 2015 he was chairman of the board of the multinational telecom company Telenor. He is a member of corporate assemblies in several major Norwegian companies such as Norsk Hydro, Orkla and Norske Skog.
