Mustafa Nail Gidel, Turkish bureaucrat and financier. He attended the 1959 Bilderberg meeting as President of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.[1][2]

Background

He was born in 1909 in Vodina, in what was then Ottoman Macedonia. His father was Kadri Bey and his mother is Akile Hanım. He graduated from Bursa High School for Boys and in 1932. In 1934, he received his postgraduate education at the Paris Academy of Political Sciences.

Career

Starting from 1932, he started to take various positions in the Ministry of Finance. He served as the General Manager of the Treasury between 1950-1953. He became the General Manager of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey in 1953 and continued this duty until 1960. He served as the Chairman of the Inspection Board of the Ministry of Finance between 1960-1963. In the following years, he served as the Secretary General of the Banks Association of Turkey and left this position in 1977 due to health problems.[3]

He died on March 2, 1981.

Personal

He was married and had two children. He spoke French. He is the uncle of musician Ömür Gidel.[4]
