Birger Magnus is a Norwegian businessman and media executive. He is chairman of the board of the state media company NRK and Hafslund ASA, and was previously also chairman of the board of Storebrand ASA and the retail part of the government oil company Statoil.[1]
In the years 1996–2009, Magnus was Executive Vice President of the influential media conglomerate Schibsted. He was chairman of the board of Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet, Svenska Dagbladet, 20 min Holding; and Norwegian Aftenposten, VG and Media Norge. In 2008, the website Kampanje named Birger Magnus as the most powerful person in Norwegian media.[2]
Magnus was previously a partner in the consulting company McKinsey & Company 1985-1996.
