The Vanguard Group is one of the three big providers of mutual funds in the world, with over $6.2 trillion in assets under management[1]. and the second-largest provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the world after BlackRock.
Ownership
Vanguard owns parts in the large majority of the world's biggest companies, including cross-ownership with Blackrock and State Street. Together, the 3 have a dominating (even controlling) share in all the world's publicly listed big companies on every stock exchange, like Alphabet (Google's mother company), and Paypal. The exceptions to this ownership are some Chinese and Russians companies, like Alibaba and Gazprom.
