Luminate states that "the last few years have seen a profound shift in the political environment (...) Trust in experts, institutions, and the media has been eroded.  The spread of [[misinformation]] and the devaluation of truth have created echo chambers that are entrenching views and polarising communities. Populist politicians are exploiting this, leading to a rise in authoritarian governments and the greater prevalence of insular, nationalist perspectives."

Pierre Omidyar's foundation for financing global media and civil society groups. It is unknown how close it coordinates with certain deep state US government agencies.

Luminate is a subgroup of the Omidyar Network, concentrating on financing a large number of global media and civil society organizations to promote certain narratives. It is unknown how close it coordinates with certain deep state US government agencies.

Activities

Luminate’s global work has supported 280 organisations, in 17 countries with over $360 million in funding. One of the focus areas is financing "independent" media organizations[1][2], and and cartel of fact checkers to censor around the world[3][4].

In addition, it works to make sure its cadre of trained political activists are "included" in governments.[1]

Luminate is run by Ben Scott[5], a former Obama administration official who also had worked in Hillary Clinton's state department. Scott led a "semi-secret" January 2019 workshop where Canadian news "stakeholders" discussed the government’s plan for a "news industry bailout" of $645 million in subsidies[6].

Luminate funded the Israel lobby Anti-Defamation League after the Omidyar Network provided seed money for the group’s Silicon Valley internet monitoring center.[7]

Luminate openly stated in its 2018-2022 strategic plan an intention to "counter" Russia and China and provide financial support to organizations in "countries in transition" – code for supplementing US regime change operations.[8]
