Dr Ted Postol is Professor Emeritus of Science, Technology, and National Security Policy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a former advisor to the US Navy Chief of Naval Operations. He has long been a critic of the effectiveness of the US Patriot missile system.[1]

2013 Ghouta gas attack

Dr Ted Postol has also been highly critical of the US narrative of the 2013 Ghouta chemical attack in Syria, arguing in a 46-page report that Al Qaeda rebels were responsible rather than Bashar al-Assad's government.[2]

The Lloyd-Postol report made seven main findings:

  1. The Syrian Improvised Chemical Munitions that Were Used in the 21 August 2013 Nerve Agent Attack in Damascus Have a Range of About 2 Kilometers.
  2. The UN Independent Assessment of the Range of the Chemical Munition Is in Exact Agreement with Our Findings.
  3. This Indicates That These Munitions Could Not Possibly Have Been Fired at East Ghouta from the “Heart”, or from the Eastern Edge, of the Syrian Government Controlled Area Shown in the Intelligence Map Published by the White House on 30 August 2013.
  4. This mistaken Intelligence Could Have Led to an Unjustified US Military Action Based on False Intelligence.
  5. A Proper Vetting of the Fact That the Munition Was of Such Short Range Would Have Led to a Completely Different Assessment of the Situation from the Gathered Data.
  6. Whatever the Reasons for the Egregious Errors in the Intelligence, the Source of These Errors Needs to Be Explained.
  7. If the Source of These Errors Is Not Identified, the Procedures that Led to this Intelligence Failure Will Go Uncorrected, and the Chances of a Future Policy Disaster Will Grow With Certainty.[3]

2017 Khan Sheikhun gas attack

Similarly Dr Postol produced a 14-page interim report challenging the narrative of a White House Intelligence document issued on 11 April 2017 in relation to an alleged nerve agent attack by the Syrian airforce at Khan Sheikhun in Syria's rebel-controlled Idlib province on 4 April 2017.[4]

His report states:

"In fact, a main piece of evidence that is cited in the [White House] document points to an attack that was executed by individuals on the ground, not from an aircraft, on the morning of April 4."[5]

By exonerating the Syrian airforce from responsibility for the sarin gas attack, Dr Postol therefore implicates Al Qaeda's 'White Helmets'.[6]

2018 Douma gas attack

On 13 April 2018, RT reported that sources such as the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) claiming there had been a chemical weapons attack in the town of Douma are funded by the West.[7]

The two doctors working in the only operational hospital in Douma, questioned by Russians, featured in the fabricated video of the alleged chemical attack on 7 April 2018, testify on video. At minutes 2.00 one of them identifies himself. At min 2.43 the other does so.[8]

The doctors tell how there was no chemical attack and how terrorists came to the hospital and shouted that there was a chemical attack, fabricating the moment and making use of people in the hospital. They used a child with asthma to show that she was suffocating due to chemical weapons.[9]
