William W. 'Bill' Lewis was a partner at McKinsey for 20 years. He was foundingdirector of the McKinsey Global Institute, the firm's economics think tank, from its founding in 1990 until his retirement from McKinsey in 2001.[1][2] He attended the 1997 Bilderberg meeting.
Education
Lewis held a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from New College (Oxford) on a Rhodes Scholarship, and a B.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.[1]
Career
Prior to his time at McKinsey, Lewis was an Associate Provost at Princeton University and as Senior Financial Officer at theWorld Bank.[3]
He held several policy-making positions in the U.S. government, including Acting United States Secretary Of Energy and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense.
He was director of the McKinsey Global Institute, the firm's economics think tank, from its founding in 1990 until his retirement from McKinsey in 2001.[1]
Other positions
Lewis was chairman of the board of Holy Cross Hospital (Maryland) and a member of the board of the Committee for Economic Development and the George C. Marshall Foundation.[4]
