Texas A&M University (Texas A&M, A&M, or TAMU) is a public land-grant research university in College Station, Texas, founded in 1876. As of Fall 2021, Texas A&M's student body is the largest in the United States.[1] Texas A&M is the only university in Texas to hold simultaneous designations as a land, sea, and space grant institution. The school's students, alumni and sports teams are known as Aggies.
The University is a member of the Alliance for Biosecurity.
The main campus spans is home to the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum.
Research
Texas A&M has an extensive research program in various academic, scientific, and commercial fields, with total expenditure of $905.5 million.[2] The Texas A&M University System, in 2006, was the first to explicitly state in its policy that technology commercialization was a criterion that could be used to decide on faculty tenure (permanent job).
Texas A&M has led the world in several fields of cloning research.
