Split up?
The US/Deep state page is looong, so what about splitting this off into its own page? I'm imagining a page from about, say 1948 (or maybe 1963?) until perhaps 2001, at which point the USDS is demonstrably fused into the SDS. -- Robin (talk) 16:17, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
In my opinion, it is fine as is. The US Deep State is the most covered subject on the site, and will by necessity be long. If you want to highlight 1948-2001, consider making the Early Deep State 1800-1945 a separate entry instead (I hope to expand that period at a later date). Terje (talk) 12:16, 29 August 2020 (UTC)---
So Generic
Mark Gorton uses "The Cabal" to refer to the US Deep State, though possibly he would use the term US deep state nowadays. Is it helpful as a proper name? How much traction does it have? I suspect not as much as another rather generic descriptor, "The Enterprise". -- Robin (talk) 18:53, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- I'd make the enterprise a subpage of George Bush (i.e the enterprise of G.B Bush). The cabal was just the same thing, but deep state only grained traction to the majority around 2016, so it's the same thing indeed imho. We have around 100 pages that could be subpages imho as well. `Jun (talk)
- I'm more familiar with the term "The Enterprise", but presume that depends on what sources one has read. IMO, not so sure on a "hierarchical criminal organization with George H. W. Bush as its CEO," but maybe somewhat more loosely composed.
