Michael Manley was the 4th Prime Minister of Jamaica who lost re-election in 1980 in a large CIA-directed regime change operation.
He was a populist.
The regime changed involved smuggling in large amounts of guns to create street violence. One of the opposition gangs also started the Eventide Home fire which killed 153 elderly women. Firemen who tried to extinguish fires were shot at, making their job impossible.
Some of the opposition leaders later went on to become parts of the CIA-Cocaine-Contra operation.
