Dr. Evren Balta Paker attended the Bilderberg for the first time in 2019, as an associate professor at Özyeğin University.
Background
From 1991-1995 Evren Balta studied International Relations at Ankara University. From 1995–8 she studied an MA in Sociology from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara. In 2000 she was awarded an MIA, International Affairs from Colombia University. Her PhD. in Political Science was written on State Capacity, State Failure and Internal War-Making in Russia and Turkey from the City University of New York from 2000 to 2007.
Her research continues to explore the intersection of comparative and international politics, with extensive work on internal conflicts in Russia and Turkey, Turkish foreign policy, and civil-military relations.[1][2]
Publications
In 2015 Balta wrote on How the Turkish elections changed the foreign policy of Turkey.[3]
Affiliations
Balta is a senior scholar at Istanbul Policy Center, a member of Global Relations Forum and co-editor of International Relations Journal. She is appointed as the academic coordinator of the TÜSİAD Global Politics Forum in 2021.[4]
