Dieter A. Schmidt was a spooky German officer and political functionary[1][2] for the Bavarian CSU. He attended Le Cercle meetings in 1982 in Wilbad Kreuth and the Bonn meeting in 1983.

Background

Schmidt attended West Point and Fort McClellan, Alabama. [Citation Needed]

Career

Schmidt joined the Bundeswehr as a professional officer in 1957. He retired from the military in the rank of a major in 1970. He became a trainee at a major German bank, senior employee in human resources of the bank, including as seminar leader for young managers. In 1978 he became head of the International Office of the CSU (later BAB). In 1979 he became Head of the Institute for External Relations of the Hanns Seidel Foundation throughout the 1980s and 1990s.[1] He was also head of the Franz Josef Strauss Symposium.

Hw had always been focused on strengthening the American-German relationship. He played a key role in the founding of the International Democratic Union and became a member of its Committee for International Affairs.

In 1988 he was guest of honor at a symposium in Bophuthatswana[3], a puppet black bantustan state created by apartheid South Africa.
