Martin Emanuel Waldenström was a Swedish lawyer and business leader.[1]
Background
Martin Waldenström was the son of the Swedish Missionary Association's founders Paul Petter Waldenström and Mathilda Hallgren.
Waldenström graduated in law from Uppsala University in 1903.
From 1907 he was married to Hedvig Waldenström, born Lion. Martin Waldenström was the father of Erland Waldenström and Lars Waldenström and the father-in-law of Jan Waldenström in his first marriage.
Career
He worked at Nils Setterwall law firm in Stockholm 1903-1906. He was a partner in the law firm Bendz & Waldenström in Malmö 1906-1911, owner of Martin Waldenström law firm in Malmö 1911-1917 and then a lawyer in Stockholm 1918-1921. He was director of Skandinaviska banken AB 1921-1928, member of its board from 1922, and chairman from 1946. He was deputy managing director of Grängesbergsbolaget (TGO) and LKAB from 1928 and managing director there 1930-1950, member of both boards from 1929 and 1930 respectively.
He was also a board member of Swedish Employers' Confederation 1930-1951 (honorary member 1951), of the Swedish Confederation of Industry 1935-1951, Swedish General Export Association 1942-1951, member of the Business Tax Delegation 1936-1955, expert in the Legislative Committee regarding the Companies Act 1935-1941, and councilor in the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce 1931-1949.
