Ambassadors to Jamaica are the highest diplomatic representatives to the Caribbean island nation of Jamaica.
There are about 40 foreign embassies and consulates in Jamaica, most of which are located in the capital, Kingston.[1]
History
Historically, Jamaica has had close ties with its former colonial ruler, the UK. After independence in 1962, trade, financial, and cultural relations with the United States are now predominant.
In 1980, the CIA executed a regime change in Jamaica, unseating Michael Manley and installing Edward Seaga.
Jamaica is a major transit point for cocaine en route to the United States and is also a key source of marijuana and marijuana derivative products for the Americas.[2]
