Ebola is a naturally occurring, often fatal disease. It typically occurs in outbreaks in tropical regions of Sub-Saharan Africa. It was first identified in 26 August 1976.

Outbreaks

The disease has had major outbreaks in 1976, 1995 and 2007.

Intellectual property

In 2010, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was granted patent #CA2741523A1 on a strain of Ebola known as "EboBun", derived from the 2007 outbreak.
