Modelling
After participating in an IMTA competition in 1998, Kutcher signed with Next modeling agency in New York[1]. Kutcher got his start modeling for the clothing company Abercrombie and Fitch, which was owned by notorious sexual abuser and deep state operative Leslie Wexner’s The Limited.[2]
Acting
He began his acting career in the Fox sitcom That '70s Show (1998–2006). He made his film debut in the romantic comedy Coming Soon (1999), followed by the comedy film Dude, Where's My Car? (2000), which was a box office hit. In 2003, Kutcher moved into romantic comedies, appearing in that year's Just Married and My Boss's Daughter. In 2003, he created and produced the television series Punk'd, also serving as host for the first eight of its ten seasons. In 2004, Kutcher starred in the lead role of the psychological film The Butterfly Effect.
Kutcher subsequently appeared in more romantic comedies, including Guess Who (2005), A Lot Like Love (2005), What Happens in Vegas (2008), and No Strings Attached (2011). He starred as Walden Schmidt on the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men (2011–2015). In 2013, Kutcher portrayed Steve Jobs in the biographical film Jobs. He also starred as Colt Bennett in the Netflix series The Ranch (2016–2020). Kutcher provided the voice of Elliot in Open Season (2006).
Thorn
Kutcher has been important in the effort to create acceptance for the introduction of AI-based facial recognition software to US police departments. When several of Silicon Valley’s largest companies in 2020 tried to salvage their image by asserting that they will no longer sell their facial recognition software to police departments, Kutcher's NGO stepped up under the guise of "combatting human trafficking".[3]
In 2012, Kutcher and his wife at the time Demi Moore founded the NGO Thorn with the original goal of “investing in the innovation phase of potential tech-led approaches to ending online child sexual abuse.”[4] Kutcher and Moore were allegedly inspired to create Thorn after watching a documentary on child sex trafficking in Cambodia. Eventually, Thorn’s plan to create its own “tech-led approach” to combatting online child sex abuse was shelved, with them instead partnering with two tech companies — Amazon and Digital Reasoning, to produce “a product to aid in identifying child sex trafficking victims who were sold online.” Thorn then “made the decision to develop the product itself and provide it free to law enforcement.”[3]
The majority of Thorn’s work involves providing local and federal law enforcement agencies with a software suite called Spotlight.[5] Spotlight, under the guise of combatting human trafficking, is a sweeping, AI-powered surveillance tool that, per the tech companies that helped create it, is currently used “by more than 2,187 law enforcement and intelligence agencies in North America.” It is provided to U.S. law enforcement free of charge by the Thorn organization, allowing law enforcement easy access to controversial surveillance systems that they ultimately use for much, more more than combatting sex trafficking.[3]
Spotlight was built with components from another lesser-known tech company called Digital Reasoning. Digital Reasoning’s algorithm was built with an undisclosed amount of funding from the CIA’s venture capital arm, In-Q-Tel[6]. Spotlight’s other co-creator, Amazon, has acquired several In-Q-Tel-funded start-ups and entities and is a long-time CIA contractor. [3]
CIA
Kutcher has teased about being a CIA asset on his Twitter account. From 2009: “spent the afternoon picking the brain of a former CIA guy. It really makes you wonder if anything you come in contact w/ is not manipulated.” From 2018: “Just sending out a morning shout to the men and woman of the intelligence community that keep us safe and protect our country. #gratitude #ty,” with a photo of a haggard pic of Kutcher drinking his morning coffee out of a CIA mug.[7]
