Assassination
In March 1981, Hinckley was involved[How?] in the assassination of Ronald Reagan but was found not guilty by reason of insanity but was sent for treatment to a Washington hospital.[3]

In July 2016, ordering his release, US District Judge Paul Friedman said Mr Hinckley no longer posed a danger to himself or others.[3]
