Céline Fremault is a Belgian politician.[1]
In March 2019, she blocked the 5G rollout in Brussels as Environment Minister or the region, stating that "The people of Brussels are not laboratory mice".[2] In 2021, the Brussels regional government approved a higher limit for radiation emissions from cell-phone towers as a matter of "strategic importance", making 5G legal. The government promised "we have not given an inch on the necessary protection of our citizens and the environment".[2]
Career
In 1998, Fremault became an assistant to Francis Delperee, who was a professor at UCL at the time. She held this mandate until 2001, when she became a lecturer in public law at the Institut Cardijn. In 1999 she became a parliamentary assistant to the PSC parliamentary group of the Senate until 2003.
In 2004 she was elected as a member of the Brussels-Capital Parliament and was re-elected to this mandate in 2009. She sat there until 2013. From 2009 to 2013 she was also chairman of the Center démocrate humaniste (cdH) faction in the Brussels-Capital Parliament.
