Esther Dyson is chairman of EDventure Holdings, a US-based company focused on information technology, health care, open government, digital technology, biotechnology, and outer space.[1]
Dyson is on the board of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and the Eurasia Foundation, two entities with ties to US intelligence services. Her board membership in the NED dovetails with her extensive business interests in Eastern Europe.
For several years in the '90s she was chairman of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. From 1998 to 2000, she was founding chairman of ICANN (the organization responsible for overseeing the Domain Name System).[2]
She is also on the Advisory board of the elite networking group Renaissance Weekend and the board of the Markle Foundation.

Esther Dyson's father was English-born, American-naturalized physicist Freeman Dyson, and her mother was mathematician Verena Huber-Dyson, who was of Swiss parentage; one of her brothers is digital technology historian George Dyson.[3] She was educated at Harvard University where she studied economics.
