Lisa Pease is described by John Simkin as a "lifelong information activist". Since the early 1990s, she has been studying the history of US covert activities around the globe. This began with a study of the JFK and RFK assassinations, but quickly broadened into a survey of various coups and assassination plots involving the CIA, both acknowledged and alleged.

Own words

"I've been researching the assassinations of the 1960s and the covert history of the United States' roles in coups and assassinations for more than 25 years. I was never drawn to history in school. It seemed too pat, too propagandistic. I knew our history was hardly the spotless version presented.

"I had similar issues with the media. I had worked on a presidential campaign in 1992 and saw firsthand how inaccurate and biased the reporting was. After that experience, I wondered, if the media can be that wrong about things I know about, maybe they've been wrong on other topics as well.

"My first Internet search ever was 'Kennedy assassination'. That led me to a newsgroup where the assassination of JFK was being passionately debated. I knew to participate I'd have to learn a lot more. I started spending lunch hours at the library, reading books, magazine articles, and government documents on microfilm. In the process, I amassed a wealth of knowledge that weighed on me. I knew I had to share what I was learning far beyond that little newsgroup.
