Martin J. Gruenberg is the acting Chairman and was the 20th Chairman of the U.S. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). [1] [2] He was appointed to the post for a five-year term by Barack Obama. His appointment was confirmed by the United States Senate on November 15, 2012.[2]

Education

Gruenberg holds a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and an A.B. from Princeton University, Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.[2]

Career

Gruenberg was on the FDIC Board of Directors since August 22, 2005. He was Acting Chairman from November 16, 2005, to June 26, 2006, and again from July 9, 2011, to November 15, 2012. He is the longest-serving director in FDIC history, surpassing a record set by Preston Delano (who served in his capacity as Comptroller of the Currency from 1938 to 1953) in December 2019.[3]
