Activities

He was Chair the construction company Maculan Holdings AG, and CEO of TAMAK Holding AG. The core of the company was the construction company Hofman & Maculan, founded in 1938, which was headed by Rudolf Maculan 1941-55.

His companies, which were heavily involved in the former East Germany and former Eastern Bloc, where it had expanded aggressively after 1989[1], went bankrupt in 1996.[2] The bankruptcy of the Maculan Group in 1996 was the second largest in modern Austria.[3][4]

Maculan continued doing business in Russia[5]

In November 2021, Alexander Maculan received the Russian Order of Friendship.[6]
