W. Harriet Critchley was Director of the Strategic Studies Program at the University of Calgary.[1][2][3] She attended the 1984 Bilderberg meeting.
Career
She taught at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, USA 1974-75.[4]
In 1978 she was a post-doctoral teaching fellow at the Institute of International Relations, University of British Columbia, where she was completing a study on The Arctic and Future Canadian Security Policy.[5]
In 1978 Critchley was a member of the Canadian delegation to the United Nations special session on disarmament.[6]
She was member of the Canadian Institute of International Affairs.[7]
She was part of a late 1970s study group on armed forces unification, to review if the unification of the Canadian military, a move that was unpopular with many military personel, needed changes. [8][9]
In 1980, "The Donner Canadian Foundation, a private philanthropic organization, has awarded a grant of $180,0000 to assist the development of a newly-established program in northern political studies at the University of Calgary, The program, a cooperative enterprise of the Arctic Institute of North America (AINA) and the U of C political science department, is designed to promote a greater knowledge and understanding of political developments in Canada's north and in other Arctic regions, Program director Dr, W. Harriet Critchley, associate professor in the department of political science, notes that northern political studies represent an area of vast potential for scholarly research."[10]
In 1984 she was on the board of the Canadian International Institute on Peace and Security.[11]
