The UK/Parliament is the national legislature of the United Kingdom. Despite the name “parliamentary democracy”, the parliament plays only a limited role in decision-making in the British Westminster model, [1] being dominated by the civil service, the government, the British deep state and international pressure.
While dissenters occasionally manage to get into parliament, deep state structures will make sure they never achieve any power.
For example, when Jeremy Corbyn overcame many initial hurdles and became Labour leader and potential next Prime Minister, the deep state went into overdrive with a campaign to make sure he did not succeed. When he was forced to resign, the deep state made sure the next Labour leader, Keir Starmer was one of them.
