Martin Michael Sellner is an Austrian far-right political activist, and leader of the Identitarian Movement of Austria. He gained some media recognition with organizing "Defend Europe" in 2017. After crowdsourcing more than $178,000, an Identitarian group chartered a ship in the Mediterranean Sea to ferry rescued migrants back to Africa, observe incursions by NGO ships into Libyan waters and render empty, not-seaworthy vessels immobile.

Debanking

Brenton Tarrant sent a donation to Sellner more than a year before the shooting. This lead to counter terrorism investigations against Sellner, two house searches, loss of entry permit into Canada and the US and the cancellation of 55 bank accounts he opened in other European countries.
