José Eduardo Moniz is a Portuguese editor who attended the 1987 Bilderberg meeting.[1]
Education
He completed a degree in Germanic philolog at the University of Lisbon.
Career
He started as a journalist in the editorial office of Diário Popular.
Shortly after, José Eduardo Moniz moved to television, being, successively, Editor-in-chief and General Director of the state channel [[RTP], the latter job during the period immediately prior to the opening of television to the private sector in 1992.
He returned to the press to direct TV Guia, still owned by RTP, and then created a television production company, MMM. In 1998 he joined TVI. He remained there for more than 10 years, until August 5, 2009.[2]
On August 10, 2009, Moniz became as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ongoing Media, a shareholder of SIC, a company that with Moniz intended to strengthen its expansion in the media area in Portugal and, internationally[3]. He resigned from those roles in 2012.
He was Vice-President of the football club Sport Lisboa e Benfica, responsible for Benfica TV. He was also director of the Communication Sciences course at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Autonomous University of Lisbon.
