2nd generation Spanish Bilderberg TLC media mogul

Ignacio Polanco Moreno is a Spanish media mogul. Like his father, Jesús de Polanco, he is a Bilderberger, and controlled several large Spanish corporate media outlets, including El País, Unión Radio and Cadena SER, and Prisa TV, from the transition to democracy in 1975 until 2021.

Ignacio attended the 2010 Bilderberg meeting and is a member of the Trilateral Commission.[1]

Education

He has a degree in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid and an MBA from the business school Instituto de Empresa de Madrid.

Career

He has developed his professional career in his father's companies Timón and Prisa. He was a director of the Santillana de Ediciones Group until 2000, and since June of that same year, he was deputy to the presidency of Prisa. In November 2006 he was appointed vice president, a position he held until his appointment as president in July 2007, after the death of his father, Jesús de Polanco.

In 2021, the Polanco family sold down it share, and lost practically all its influence in Prisa, the most influential media group in Spain since the Transition.[2] By 2024, the brothers Manuel and Ignacio had only 12% of the large media and publishing empire that their father created. The two brothers are fully focused on their luxury hotel businesses, which, according to themselves, are what produce real profitability.[3]
