Geoffrey C. Kent was Chairman and Chief Executive of the Imperial Group, PLC when he attended the 1985 Bilderberg.[1] Kent was one of the first advertising men to rise to the top of a major UK company. [2][3][4]
Career
Kent began his career as an advertising manager at tobacco manufacturer John Player & Sons Ltd in 1958. Six years later he took a position of a marketing director at Imperial Manufacturing Group Inc., also a tobacco company. In 1969, Kent was appointed an assistant managing director at the same company. Also he was a chairman and managing director at Imperial Manufacturing Group Inc. from 1975 to 1978. In 1975, Kent became a director at that company, where he worked until 1986.
In 1978, Kent was appointed a chairman and chief executive at Courage Limited. From 1981, he held the same position at Imperial Manufacturing Group Inc. In 1986, Kent was a deputy chairman and director at Corah PLC. In addition, he worked as a director and chairman at Mansfield Brewery Co. Ltd from 1989 to 1992.
