Long seen as a bastion of privilege, Dalton is one of New York City’s most prestigious private schools. Also mysteriously hired an unqualified Jeffrey Epstein.

The Dalton School, originally the Children's University School,[1] is a private, coeducational college preparatory school in New York City and a member of both the Ivy Preparatory School League and the New York Interschool. The school is located in four buildings within the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

The Dalton School, originally called the Children's University School, was founded by Helen Parkhurst in 1919. Parkhurst's "Dalton Plan", to which the school still adheres, reflected the Progressive Education movement that had begun in the late 19th century.[2]

Long seen as a bastion of privilege, Dalton is one of New York City’s most prestigious private schools. known for its sky-high cost with the student body being made up from the sons and daughters of New York’s richest and most influential families.

Jeffrey Epstein

Jeffrey Epstein, later notorious for his sexual blackmail ring, was hired as a math teacher there despite the fact that he had failed to complete his degree and was only 21 years old at the time. Epstein worked there for two years until he was sacked (allegedly because he “didn’t make the cut”).[3]

Among the students attending Dalton while Epstein was there were Rupert Murdoch's daughter, Prudence Murdoch, and soon-to-be actresses, such as Dirty Dancing's Jennifer Grey.[4]

Donald Barr

Former OSS member Donald Barr was headmaster of the School from 1964 to 1974, when he hired Epstein [5] [6][7]

In 1973, Barr published Space Relations, a science fiction novel about a planet ruled by oligarchs who engage in child sex slavery. It has been noted that the plot of the novel anticipates the crimes of Epstein and his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell.[8]

Donald Barr is the father of United States Attorney General William Barr, who oversaw Epstein’s prosecution and "suicide" in jail.

Gardner P. Dunnan,Donald Barr's successor, was hired in 1974 by Richard Ravitch, then the board's president, after an internal dispute over the performance of Barr.[9]
