Babylon Bee is a satirical website. Several of its satires have preceded actual news stories.

Mainstream media recognition

Fox News published an article about a piece that mocks CNN on the Babylon Bee in January 2020.[1]

The NYT mentions two Babylon Bee articles in September 2020 in their reporting on "What Went Viral This Week":

  • 3. The Babylon Bee: NBA Players Wear Special Lace Collars To Honor Ruth Bader Ginsburg
  • 6. The Babylon Bee: Fisher-Price Releases ‘My First Peaceful Protest’ Playset With House You Can Actually Burn Down

Robin Pogrebin of the New York Times in September 2020 retweeted the Babylon Bee article: "NBA Players Wear Special Lace Collars To Honor Ruth Bader Ginsburg" without any comment, probably believing it, later deleting the tweet.[2]

2020 Censorship

Facebook began soft censoring Babylon Bee in 2020.[3] Twitter started censoring it in August 2020.[4]

Criticism

A satirical piece on the occurrence of the military conflict between Israel and Iran in 2025.

By 2024 it is described as having a "Zionist bent",[5] hiding behind satire when they want to attack others and, according to Candace Owens, that they base their jokes on people who don't worship Israel and Bibi Netanyahu.[6]

In November 2025 the Bee made a post involving the 2024 Lebanon pager explosions and Megyn Kelly,[7] for her "platforming antisemites". This has been criticized as implying Israel may assassinate Americans for criticizing them.[8][9]
