Private firearm creator, dies shortly after having been raided by police from a heart attack at 28.

Jacob Duygu, known under his online pseudonym 'JStark1809' or 'JStark', was a Kurdish-German [1] weapons developer and activist for the deregulation of gun laws. He became best known as the developer of the 3d printed FGC-9. He was a member of the group Deterrence Dispensed, which develops and distributes models and instructions for printing firearms.[2] JStark is said to have died of a heart attack shortly after a house search in 2021.

FGC-9

The FGC-9 is a semi-automatic carbine in pistol caliber that can be made by amateurs in short time. The name is an abbreviation for “Fuck Gun Control”. The number 9 stands for the caliber of 9mm.[3] Most parts of the FGC-9 are manufactured using a 3D printer. The manufacturing process does not require any part that is regulated or monitored in Western Europe. The FGC-9 is considered comparatively accurate and stable. While JStark himself said the cost of producing an FGC-9 is “under €1000”, other sources charge just €350, including €250 for the purchase of a 3D printer.[4] Production usually takes around two weeks.

Interview mit Popular Front

In November 2020, independent journalists from Popular Front published a documentary about 3D-printed weapons in Western Europe, for which they interviewed JStark at length and followed him into a forest where he demonstrated the FGC-9. The video helped JStark to gain a lot of attention outside the scene of illegal gun makers, established a small cult of personality and gave him the opportunity to spread his ideology. He himself described Deterrence Dispensed as apolitical, anti-racist and anti-xenophobic. His goals were merely the development of weapons, absolute freedom of expression and the right for everyone in the world to own weapons. He believed that oppressed population groups can only defend themselves against armed police forces and armies with weapons and that firearms are therefore the prerequisite for an ideal peaceful coexistence. He described himself as "extremely peaceful".[5]

The interview is often linked to JStark's death shortly afterwards. German authorities could have traced his clothes and the objects in the room, eBay and Coinbase were mentioned.[6] Other sources believe that the authorities received a tip-off from England. Some users accused the English journalists from Popular Front on Instagram of having burnt the source.

ISCR investigation

An investigation by the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence writes that their researchers found 700 comments on 4chan’s /pol/ board (via authorship attribution techniques) by JStark with threats of violence; including threats to kill so-called "traitors" of Germany, threats against politicians, law enforcement, and left-wing individuals.[7][8]

Death

JStark's cause of death is suspicious. He previously claimed in an interview with Popular Front that he would not surrender without a fight if arrested, however, no weapons or other illegal items were found during the search of his home. According to some initial reports, he died of cardiac arrest in the back of a police vehicle shortly after his arrest. Later reports say that relatives found his body dead in front of a car parked at his parent’s flat in Hannover. The coroner ruled this was no suicide or murder, but a heart attack.[9] Many of his supporters did doubt it this, as he was considered a healthy 28-year-old.[10]

Its a sad time my friends. I can confirm the news that JStark has passed. The drive he brought to development will be dearly missed.

I'll not be offering any details or commentary on his passing or the articles that were written. We are investigating some inconsistencies.[11]

According to other information, Jstark had a previous medical condition relating to his heart that he has had since birth.[12]
