The President of the Bank of Latvia is the leader of Latvijas Banka, the central bank of the Baltic state of Latvia.

People

Latvijas Banka is governed by a board of directors, which includes a chairman, his deputy and six ordinary members.

Einars Repše ran the bank from 1991-2001. He was selected a Global Leader for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in 1993, and moved on to become minister of finance and Prime Minister. He was investigated for corruption in 2004.[1]

From 2001 until 2019 the President of the bank was Ilmārs Rimšēvičs. On February 20, 2018, Rimšēvičs was suspended from service due to corruption allegations.[2] In 2023 he was convicted to 6 years prison for taking bribes and a fishing trip to Russia from a commercial bank.[3] The trial and prison sentence was possibly US deep state directed selective justice operation, as part of the New Cold War against Russia, in an attempt to block Russia from the international banking system.
