7644 (Media operations) Squadron is a Royal Air Force Reserve squadron based at RAF Halton. 'A prime role of 7644 Squadron', the RAF notes, 'is to support the RAF in media operations.'[1] 7644 Squadron also 'prepares a large number of news releases, 'home town stories' on serving personnel, and video and audio news releases for the media.' As well as media training the squadron is also involved in 'Simpress' in which 7644 Squadron officers 'act as "simulated" press at exercises.'[2]
