Portuguese industrial manager for Siemens and parliamentarian who attended the 1982 and 1983 Bilderberg meetings

Rogério da Conceição Serafim Martins was a Portuguese businessman and manager, who was Secretary of State for Industry in the first government of Marcello Caetano, in the years before the 1974 Carnation Revolution[1][2][3][4]

He attended the 1982 and 1983 Bilderberg meetings as chairman of the "Simapre" Investment Company.

Career

Martins was an engineer and manager for Siemens, a large German company, in the 1960s.[5]

"Rogério Martins was a liberal, in the sense of defending the freedom of economic initiative, the de-bureaucratization of the state, the joy of innovating and proposing new developments. As such, he embodied well the desire for cleaner spaces and air, for more confidence in inspiration supported by safe prudence, in technical competence, a point on which he insisted a lot."[6]

He sat in Parliament in the periods 1983-85 for the liberal-conservative Social Democratic Party and 1991-95 for the social-democrat Socialist Party. He was in the European Affairs Committee.[7]
