Michel Woitrin was a professor of economics and general administrator of the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL).[1][2][3] He attended the 1969 Bilderberg meeting.

Education

In his youth, he was an active member of the Scouts. He obtained the title of doctor of law and bachelor of economics from the Catholic University of Louvain (1945), and continued his training at Queen's College (Cambridge) (1946-1947)[4] and Harvard (1952-1953) at the Harvard International Seminar under Henry Kissinger.

Career

After first considering a career as a lawyer, he turned to a career as a professor at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL).

His first position at UCL was assistant at the Institute for Economic Research in Leuven (1945-1946). He then became economic advisor in the Studies department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (1947-1948), administrator at the European Organization for Economic Cooperation in Paris (1948-1949) and deputy chief of staff to the Minister of Economic Affairs (1949-1950).

He was appointed professor at UCL in 1950 and full professor in 1954. His courses relate to macroeconomic analyses, international trade theory, contemporary economic problems and economic and social demography.

He founded and directed the Center for Advanced Training in Business management at UCL in 1955, the Common Market Research Group in 1958 and the Department of Demography in 1963. He became General Secretary and General Administrator of the University in 1963 and held this position until his emeritus in 1984.
