Daniel Mazuera Gómez was a Colombian Trade Minister, who attended le Cercle. He was nephew of two other attendees. He resigned citing the assassination of his uncle Alvaro Gomez Hurtado and the need for deep-seated political change in Colombia.[1][2]

Education

He graduated in law and economic from the Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogota in 1969.

Career

He was director of the finance department at Promotions Grancolombiana, 1968-1969; deputy general manager, Promotions Grancolombiana, 1969-1974; general manager, Hypothecary Mercantile, S.A., 1974-1975; president, Colombian Consortium of Insurance Brokers, S.A., 1976-1979; representative in Colombia, Rothschild and Sons of London, 1976-1982.[3][4]

He was a member of the House of Deputies, 1982-1986; chair of the economics committee in the House of Deputies, 1982-1983; president, House of Deps., 1984-1985; senator, House of Deps., 1986-1990; vice chair senate economics committee, House of Deps., 1988-1989.

He was chair of Arboleda University Institute, 1990-1991; ambassador to Argentina, 1991-1993; minister foreign trade, 1994-1995.

He resigned as Foreign Trade Minister resigned after his uncle Enrique Gomez-Hurtado (also a member of Le Cercle) made strong criticisms of the Colombian government, citing the assassination of Alvaro Gomez Hurtado and the need for deep-seated political change in Colombia.[1]

Daniel Mazuera attended Le Cercle in 1982. His uncle Enrique Gomez-Hurtado attended a lot of meetings.
